WHO WE ARE
GRAD Academy Memphis is a New Tech Network (NTN) High School located in Memphis, TN currently serving students in grades 9-12. We equip our scholars with the knowledge, skills and strong character needed to succeed in today’s ever-changing world. It is the first GRAD Academy High School in the nation, and employs a highly successful technology-driven instructional model, and also utilizes proven comprehensive wraparound supports and college readiness strategies of Project GRAD USA.
Our school is a part of the Achievement School District (ASD) of Tennessee, a statewide district that aims to move schools performing in the bottom 5% in Tennessee to the top 25% within five years.
GRAD Academy Memphis adheres to the mission of all Project GRAD Academies to disrupt inequities in public education to ensure that all scholars develop the knowledge, skills and habits of mind to become responsible citizens and stewards of our future. Our vision for GRAD Academies is that they will transform public education by demonstrating that public schools anywhere can be centers of excellence where tomorrow’s challenges are solved through the aspirations and talents of today’s youth.
The long-term vision of GRAD Academy Memphis is to build a distinctive blended learning environment and model in which students from ASD-zoned schools in Memphis will perform academically in high school in the top 10% globally. By doing so, we aim to demonstrate that a comprehensive and well-designed blended learning high school model can close significant achievement gaps and prove that excellence is possible for all students.
OUR LEARNING MODEL
Instruction at GRAD Academy Memphis is based on the New Tech Network model, a project-based learning approach supported by a comprehensive technology platform. At our school, there is a 1:1 student to networked computer ratio in all classrooms. Student direction and feedback are given through online learning systems, as well as online enrichment activities. All students develop full ease with current technology, and learning facilitators have full access to real-time data to help guide instruction.
GRAD Academy Memphis implements a computer‐integrated, project‐based learning model, with a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) curricular focus, complemented by an aggressive focus on closing skill and achievement gaps, especially in literacy and mathematics. Students work in teams and focus on real-world problems. After our first year of operation, the percentage of GAM students passing end-of-year exams with a score of “Proficient” or higher in ELA increased from 11% to 50%, and from 21% to 37% in Math.

School will end at 12:45 pm on Wednesdays for scholars.

All scholars at GRAD Academy Memphis are required to wear our school uniforms.
This year, our uniform vendor is Christian Wear Apparel East.
