GRAD Academy Memphis

What is the goal of GRAD Academy Memphis?

GRAD Academy Memphis is part of the Achievement School District (ASD) of Tennessee, an innovative statewide district that works to move the bottom five percent of schools in Tennessee to the top twenty-five within five years.  GRAD Academy will be fully aligned with Tennessee and national Common Core Standards.

GRAD Academy will begin the 2013-2014 school year with a 9th grade class, adding  a grade each year until it becomes a full 9-12 high school in 2016-2017.  It will prepare students for post‐secondary success by implementing the proven college readiness strategies of Project GRAD USA which have since the early 1990s been executed in more than 40 high schools and prepared more than 16,000 students in high needs areas to graduate from high school within four years and enter college and other post‐secondary programs.

The New Tech Network model, which provides GRAD Academy with a platform for a project based learning high school, was first developed in California in 1999 and has since grown to over 100 high schools internationally. Data show that when the model is implemented with integrity, New Tech Students
